Web Server Admin
We're seeking a web server admin / engineer to join our Virtual Worlds Group and work with a smart, ambitious team bringing "fun with substance" to millions of kids worldwide.
The following skills and expertise are sought for this position:
- html, javascript, css
- payment/shopping cart systems
- customer support/knowledge base systems
- mysql
- apache
- several web server technologies including: ruby (ruby on rails), php, jsp
- shell scripting, cron jobs (linux)
- basic web server maintenance skills (ftp, putty, winscp, etc.)
- documenting, updating internal wikis, etc.
- RESTful application features
- java (with sockets and multithreading experience)
- installing/removing applications on servers
- port forwarding
- network traffic analysis
- load balancers
- configuring routers
- handling web domain name servers
- data archiving, data backups
- virtualization
- resource monitoring (CPU/Memory/Disk usage and alerting)
- email server maintenance
- security protocols (VPN, encryption, hashing, htaccess, etc.)
- experience working with data centers
- experience with scaling server applications
While not required areas of expertise, we will prefer candidates who also have experience with the following:
- Jetty
- SmartFox Server
- other socket servers
- Server JVMs
- CentOS
- memcached
- terracotta
- tungsten
- percona
- munin
- app manager by manageengine
- Pandora fms
- visualvm
